The perfect workplace

Your bedroom is an important place. If you set it up a bit well, it doesn’t just have to be a place where you, well, sleep, but it can also be a place where you work and relax. A good workplace, wherever, but especially in your bedroom, is essential for productivity. So that when you are done working, you can really relax. Of course there are a number of essential things if you want a workplace in your bedroom. A good desk (a corner desk, for example?), Good lighting. Let’s dive in.

Step 1: Light

As we all know lighting is very important. But did you know that enlightenment can also affect you mentally? Different types of light have different effects on your brain. Blue light, for example, has a calming, but also stimulating effect. Most screens are set to blue, cold light by default, so that you stay awake longer, and therefore look at the screen longer. So if you have to submit an essay, blue light is better. This will keep you awake, and hopefully calm. Warm light (red, yellow, etc.) can give you energy, but it is also less calming. Your eyes also find warm light more pleasant to look at, so you will relax more quickly in warm light. So if you have to work on something for a long time, cold light is a good idea, but if you want to relax and read a book before going to bed, a warm lamp is a better idea.

Step 2: Seat

Where you sit and how you sit are two things that you should not underestimate. Your desk is a good place to start. Does the agency you have now have everything you need? Is there enough space for all your stuff, for your desktop or your laptop, or both? Are there enough drawers, and does the rest of the room still have enough (walking) space? And then your chair. Are you sitting well? To make sure you have the correct chair, sit down and try to slide all the way back in the chair so that your back touches the back of the chair. Now if you put your feet on the floor, they should be flat, with your legs at a 90 degree angle. The same goes for your arms: the handrail should start exactly where your elbow bends. Also, make sure your desk is neither too high nor too low compared to your chair.

These are just a few things to keep in mind when creating a workspace in your bedroom, but they are all important. So think about the different types of light and their effects, and find out if you have the right desk and chair. Maybe that corner desk after all?
